While Matthew was left blind, his other four senses were raised to superhuman levels, making up for his lack of sight in ways most people wouldn't understand. All that served him well after his father died and he trained to become a warrior before being rejected and left to live his life. He studied law at Columbia University where he met his best friend, starting up Nelson and Murdock with him. Lawyer by day, the vigilante known as Daredevil at night, Murdock's strict moral code meant bringing villains to justice and sending them to prison; it was this that had him in conflict with another: Frank Castle, the Punisher.
